Today was our Family and Spider day, and it was lovely. We had a good crowd, with lots of families. We invited them to choose a name for the Giant Spider and then we had a public vote, with the top two chosen: Webster and Aranha, which is Portuguese for spider. All the children who participated were given a prize of a spider cupcake, donated by Frederick’s Fine Foods.
The mayor of Diss, Sonia Browne, presided over the naming ceremony and we then welcomed the newly named spider to Fair Green. We also had a display of living creepy crawlies, that you could hold and touch, from Ellie from Banham Zoo, plus face painting, a lovely folk band performance from Stanton Folk Group, and our usual tea and cake stall.
