You have probably seen our new trees, along the Denmark Street side of Fair Green. There are 21 of them, some in clusters of 3. The clusters will be thinned in a few years, so that only the strongest remains.
Thanks to Alison Bannister for organising this. We had a lot of expert help and a small grant to pay for the trees, tubes, stakes, etc. There is currently a rota of Committee members who are watering them daily. If you are willing to be part of this, please contact Alison on 01379 644473.
Alison describes the trees as “Beginning at the car park the trees are whitebeam, sessile oak (behind the seat), small leaved lime, sycamore, sweet chestnut and hornbeam (nearer the phone box). There are three wild cherry trees in a row on the Green side.”
