Surely the Jubilee celebrations on Fair Green were the highlight of the weekend in Diss. The kickoff on Friday, 1st June was the most special. See the photos below. The Cock Inn took the lead, supported by your Neighbourhood Association. We ran an excellent barbecue, with hog roast, burgers and hot dogs. There was IMPs play for smaller children, a bouncy castle, a bucking bronco, a huge marquee with bicycle trials and lots of music all weekend.
For me the highlight was the visit of the Queen with her attendants to Fair Green. (There are many Father Christmases, why not many Queens?) Played by Anna Lidsey, she arrived in a chauffer-driven Bentley (courtesy of Pete Gillings), and amused the crowd by offering knighthoods/ladyships to many children and adults.
For the rest of the weekend, the crowds continued to come to an 80s disco and other music laid on by the Cock.
